THE END OF THE BEAUTIFUL GAME? - THE EUROPEAN SUPER LEAGUE EXPLAINED

Image
Football is Dead [viz. by Varun Sangwan] Yesterday, the footballing world was shaken to its core by the announcement of a European Super League, potentially disrupting the existing European competitions, i.e., UEFA Champion's League and The Europa League. Gone will be the days when any team could dream of playing in the European competitions as an attempt to challenge the status quo about the big teams in their respective leagues. Teams who have done well recently - the likes of West Ham, Leicester, Real Sociedad, Atalanta, and so on, who rose above expectations to challenge the top tier teams in their divisions will probably find their herculean efforts to have been in vain because the owners of the so-called big clubs have decided that football is just supposed to make money and shouldn't mean anything to the fans. MATCH PREVIEW - PSG v MANCHESTER UNITED

Image
TRIVIA Venue - Parc De Princes, Paris Kick Off - Saturday, October 20 -  20:00 GMT                   Saturday, October 21 - 12:30 IST After a sluggish start to the season for Manchester United, things finally came together for the Red Devils against Newcastle as they dispatched the Magpies convincingly, beating them 4 - 1. United's goals were extremely fluid and they had finally found the attacking mojo that was seen during the second half of last season. Today, they return to the stadium where Ole Gunnar Solskjaer enjoyed his best ever win as Manchester United's manager, where he masterminded a 3 - 1 comeback - which was won in trademark Solskjaer style - an injury time winner. It was one one of the best Champions League nights in United history and that is what gave Ole the job. One and a half year in, the Norwegian guided United to 3rd place in the Premier League and looks to be here to stay. Our French rivals, Paris Saint...

2020 - 21 PREMIER LEAGUE SEASON PREVIEW

The Premier League's 2020 - 21 season kicks-off at Craven Cottage as Fulham host Arsenal in the season opener, a season which is starting late and is supposed to end on 23 May 2021. I'll take a look at what to expect from this season as a whole and predict likely outcomes.. 1. RELEGATION PLACES According to me, West Bromwich Albion and Fulham have relegation written all over them. They do not have the quality required to compete in England's top tier and will be sent back to the Championship next season. With no major signings from both clubs, they will need to rely on their existing squads which are Championship standard at best. The third team , I predict to go down will seem strange for most people but I seriously don't think Aston Villa can remain in the Premier League this season. They are over-reliant on their captain Jack Grealish and Dean Smith is not a proven manager in the Premier League and luck was the only reason they managed to stay up last season. Their l...
