Tottenham Hotspurs vs Manchester United - Match Preview

Image
Solskjaer's turn to get his revenge? [via Football.London] Manchester United are set to face Jose Mourinho’s Spurs at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in a clash which is important for both Mourinho and Ole. Winning the game will help the Red Devils reduce the gap to 11 points between the noisy neighbours at the top of the table. Man City dropped points against Leeds United (beating Bielsa ball isn't for everyone), allowing Solskjaer a glimmer of hope to close the gap between the two. United have a game in hand over the Blues and could possibly reduce the deficit to 8 pts. Just saying, Manchester City were 8 pts behind Manchester United with 6 games to go when they won the 11/12 Premier League Title. Mourinho has been under intense scrutiny this season [via Techno Trenz] Mourinho needs the win to keep Spurs Champions League hopes alive, which would be the least Spurs' fans would expect of him. After all, they saw their club crash out of both the Europa League and the FA Cup to...

Solskjaer's Chance To Rotate? - Granada vs Manchester United

Image
Granada vs Manchester United [via UEFA Europa League] TRIVIA Venue - Estadio Nuevo de Los Carmenes Kickoff - Thursday, April 8, 20:00 BST                    Friday, April 9, 00:30 IST Manchester United exited the FA Cup in a disappointing manner as they allowed Leicester City to run over them in the Quarter-Final. The result and moreover, the performance came as a shock to everyone as the same team had just beaten City, AC Milan, and West Ham in a span of 2 weeks. The International Break couldn't have come at a better time for Ole. Most of our players got about the right amount of rest and game time during their time with their countries. We were expected to come back fresher as we restarted PL action. But quite evidently, our team took a while to get out of their blocks against Brighton, conceding yet another early goal. Although we managed to come back from behind, yet again, we need to start winning games more comfortably. Taking...

FA CUP QUARTER FINAL SHOWDOWN AGAINST THE FOXES

The Red Devils face an in-form Leicester City in the Last 8 of the FA Cup TRIVIA Venue - King Power Stadium Kickoff - Sunday, March 21, 17:00 GMT                                                          22:30 IST Solskjaer's Manchester United have fared pretty well in what has been said as a season-defining week for the club. After a few dismal 0-0 draws, The Red Devils were to face a rampant Manchester City side, running away with the title. And oh boy, were they up for it. We brought an end to City's 21-game winning streak through a wonderful team performance. The very next match, we had a below-par performance against AC Milan in the Europa League, somehow got a goal and somehow gave it away in the last minute.  Having more or less secured Top 4 with a win against West Ham , Manchester United also knocked out ...

MATCH PREVIEW - MANCHESTER UNITED VS REAL SOCIEDAD

Image
Manchester United are virtually through after beating Sociedad 0-4 in the away leg TRIVIA Venue - Old Trafford, Manchester Kick-Off - Thursday, February 25, 20:00 GMT                      Friday, February 26, 1:30 IST Manchester United are virtually through to the Round of 16 after thumping Real Sociedad 0-4 away from home . Until and unless we've an absolute freak result, The Red Devils should comfortably get over this tie. Having such a healthy advantage gives Solskjaer the perfect opportunity to rotate his squad and give regular first-teamers a much-needed rest. Ole's boys seem to have returned to form after a dip, which saw them drop points in a 3-3 draw against Everton and a 1-1 draw against West Brom . Since then, United have kicked off their Europa League campaign in style and won 3-1 against Newcastle in a convincing manner. Meanwhile, Real Sociedad will look to keep the aggregate low and avoid another free-scoring ...

MATCH PREVIEW - MANCHESTER UNITED v SHEFFIELD UNITED

Image
TRIVIA Venue - Bramall Lane, Sheffield Kick Off - Saturday, December 17-  20:00 GMT                   Sunday , December 18 - 01:30 IST It's been a difficult season to explain for Man United so far.. At one point they were struggling in the Premier League but absolutely flying in Europe. Now they console themselves over their Champions League exit over a good run of games in the Premier League. It's funny how one match changes things but that seems to be the case at United where a win is applauded but loose a game and everybody calls for Solskjaer's head. The recent draw against Manchester City needed something to spark it but it didn't come and it finished as a bore 0 - 0 draw. The thing with Solskjaer's side is you never know what to expect. They will either tear you apart or they will play like they are playing in the Sunday League. Away from home it usually has been the former where going behind is the equivalent of the op...

MATCH PREVIEW - PSG v MANCHESTER UNITED

Image
TRIVIA Venue - Parc De Princes, Paris Kick Off - Saturday, October 20 -  20:00 GMT                   Saturday, October 21 - 12:30 IST After a sluggish start to the season for Manchester United, things finally came together for the Red Devils against Newcastle as they dispatched the Magpies convincingly, beating them 4 - 1. United's goals were extremely fluid and they had finally found the attacking mojo that was seen during the second half of last season. Today, they return to the stadium where Ole Gunnar Solskjaer enjoyed his best ever win as Manchester United's manager, where he masterminded a 3 - 1 comeback - which was won in trademark Solskjaer style - an injury time winner. It was one one of the best Champions League nights in United history and that is what gave Ole the job. One and a half year in, the Norwegian guided United to 3rd place in the Premier League and looks to be here to stay. Our French rivals, Paris Saint...

MATCH PREVIEW - BRIGHTON v MANCHESTER UNITED

Image
TRIVIA Venue - American Express Stadium, Brighton Kick Off - Saturday, September 26 - 13:30 GMT                   Saturday, September 26 - 17:00 IST Manchester United lost their opening fixture in the Premier League to Crystal Palace in what was probably one of the worst performances from the Red Devils in recent times and it was a huge let down to start the season with a defeat and it may have hurt our ambitions for this season. They did recover however as they best Luton Town in the mid-week 3 goals to nil as they notched their first win of the campaign. Defensive mistakes were the center of the defeat against the Eagles and that is an issue that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has to address before their trip to the south coast of England. With some players still probably needing match fitness, it will be interesting to see how this one pans out.  Brighton, on the other hand have enjoyed a decent start to the Premier League as they r...

2020 - 21 PREMIER LEAGUE SEASON PREVIEW

Image
The Premier League's 2020 - 21 season kicks-off at Craven Cottage as Fulham host Arsenal in the season opener, a season which is starting late and is supposed to end on 23 May 2021. I'll take a look at what to expect from this season as a whole and predict likely outcomes.. 1. RELEGATION PLACES According to me, West Bromwich Albion and Fulham have relegation written all over them. They do not have the quality required to compete in England's top tier and will be sent back to the Championship next season. With no major signings from both clubs, they will need to rely on their existing squads which are Championship standard at best. The third team , I predict to go down will seem strange for most people but I seriously don't think Aston Villa can remain in the Premier League this season. They are over-reliant on their captain Jack Grealish and Dean Smith is not a proven manager in the Premier League and luck was the only reason they managed to stay up last season. Their l...
