Tottenham Hotspurs vs Manchester United - Match Preview
Solskjaer's turn to get his revenge? [via Football.London] |
Manchester United are set to face Jose Mourinho’s Spurs at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in a clash which is important for both Mourinho and Ole. Winning the game will help the Red Devils reduce the gap to 11 points between the noisy neighbours at the top of the table. Man City dropped points against Leeds United (beating Bielsa ball isn't for everyone), allowing Solskjaer a glimmer of hope to close the gap between the two. United have a game in hand over the Blues and could possibly reduce the deficit to 8 pts. Just saying, Manchester City were 8 pts behind Manchester United with 6 games to go when they won the 11/12 Premier League Title.
Mourinho has been under intense scrutiny this season

Mourinho needs the win to keep Spurs Champions League hopes alive, which would be the least Spurs' fans would expect of him. After all, they saw their club crash out of both the Europa League and the FA Cup to comparatively lower opposition.
A Day to Forget for Manchester United

Both set of fans would never forget the first clash between these clubs when United played Spurs at Old Trafford. The game saw United lead through a Bruno Fernandes penalty. Martial was then sent off following a penalty box brawl (had to exaggerate) between him and Eric Lamela. What followed was a series of events every United fan wished not to happen. When the full-time whistle blew, Spurs had put 6 past David De Gea which led to one of the biggest defeats ever to happen at the Theater of Dreams.
Martial probably out for the season

Martial and Bailly are unavailable and Rashford is a doubt for the match after being taken of at 65’ during the Europa game against Granada few days back. There’s a broad chance that we can see Mason Greenwood start at RW. It may be Cavani to start in his usual position with Greenwood shifted to the wing. Speculation follows Harry Kane wanting an exit from the club and he might favor a move to the Theater of Dreams next season also make this tie interesting. Honestly, it would take an insane amount of money to lure away Kane, and hence, almost impossible to do a deal.
In spite of all the stick he gets, Solskjaer has done pretty well this season

With a win crucial, Spurs and United are set on to the reverse fixture at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. With 22 games unbeaten away from home, Ole’s men are hopeful off getting a vengeance against the Spurs.
