For the first time in the history of the club, Manchester United have appointed a Director of Football . John Murtough has been promoted from Head of Football Development to Director of Football. Ex-Red Devil, Darren Fletcher takes up the helm of Technical Director alongside Murtough. John will have overall leadership and responsibility for operations and strategy across all football functions. Murtough presided over the recruitment reboot two years ago with Solskjaer and his work on the three fronts has seen him gain a reputation as a fixer at Manchester United. Marcus Rashford continued his breathtaking form as he drove from the left flank into the box and rifled a shot into Darlow's near post. Just before halftime, a poor header from Harry Maguire landed at the feet of Allan Saint-Maximan who converted to bring the Magpies level. Caicedo to United almost a done deal Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has been keen on getting a defensive midfielder. Although, according to popular opinion, Manchester United should've been looking for a ready-made player, someone who goes straight into the first team. Instead, the Red Devils have invested in yet another player for the future. The Old Trafford outfit has signed 19-year-old Ecuadorian midfielder Moises Caicedo for a reported £ 4.5 million. Who is Moises Caicedo? A Star In The Making Gomes had been with Manchester United for 15 long years, progressing through the academy ranks constantly showing promise and leadership, voted as the Jimmy Murphy Player of the Year in May 2017, the youngest ever receiver of the award. First-Team Breakthrough Gomes made his first-team debut on 21st May 2017, becoming the youngest player to represent Manchester United at just 16 years and 263 days, and scored his first senior goal in a 2-1 pre-season friendly against Tottenham Hotspurs on 25th July 2019.
