MANCHESTER UNITED V WEST HAM - PREVIEW
Manchester United face West Ham tonight! |
TRIVIA
Manchester United have been hit and miss so far this season. The team's form has been highly inconsistent. You never know which Manchester United is going to turn up. On their day, they can beat the best team in England i.e Manchester City and also be the team that loses to the bottom of the league team (in this case Sheffield United). The Red Devils are too reliant on certain players and that could backfire in big matches. Bruno Fernandes and Luke Shaw have been outstanding this season while there have been many average performances too by the likes of Harry Maguire and Victor Lindelof. It will be interesting to see which Manchester United turns up against The Hammers.
As for West Ham United, David Moyes has brought them to a place where no one would have ever believed was possible. Moyes was odds on favourite to be sacked after 10 games after West Ham were handed a nightmare run of games at the start of the season. Not only did they pass that phase with flying colours, they now have a realistic chance at a Champions League spot with Chelsea and Liverpool not extremely consistent. People often say that Moyes was not afforded time at Old Trafford. It however would have been interesting to see where we could have been had that been the case.
TEAM NEWS

Manchester United will be without Frenchman Paul Pogba is still sidelined through injury. Although it is suspected that he won't be on the sidelines for long, Ole suspects if he could get involved before the International Break. David de Gea will also not be available for selection after he was given some personal time off for the birth of his child, although he is back in Manchester. Edison Cavani, Anthony Martial, Van de Beek, and Mata miss out while Rashford is a doubt with an injury. Marcus has been risked and added to the squad. It remains to be seen if Solksjaer will risk starting him or hand Amad Diallo a start.
Arthur Masuaku, Ryan Fredericks, Angelo Ogbonna and Andriy Yarmolenko may be available for selection. Jesse Lingard however will sit this one out due to the match being against his parent club.
PREDICTED LINEUP
Since David de Gea has been given some personal time off, Dean Henderson will start in goal. I expect Bailly and Maguire to continue along with Luke Shaw and Aaron Wan Bissaka. Mc-Fred behind Bruno and upfront Greenwood, James, and Rashford are expected to start.
PLAYERS TO WATCH OUT FOR
Luke Shaw has been in phenomenal form this season and possibly the best LB in the Premier League. He has definitely put himself in Southgate's Euros plans and has been a revelation for Manchester United. Alex Telles can be credited for providing competition for the Englishman, but Shaw deserves all the plaudits for putting in the work to get where he is right now.
VERDICT
Bruno and Greenwood to get on the scoresheet.
