THE MANCHESTER DERBY - PREVIEW

TRIVIA

Venue - Etihad Stadium
Kickoff - Sunday, March 7, 22:00 GMT

Manchester United have been hit and miss so far this season. The team's form has been highly inconsistent. You never know which Manchester United is going to turn up. Having not scored in more than 5 hours of football, the Red Devils will be desperate to put their scoring woes to bed once and for all. The bigger question however will be raised of their defensive capabilities against a Manchester City side who have found their mojo back. Bruno Fernandes will be key for the Red Devils if they want to challenge for the title instead of resigning to the fact that the noisy neighbours will be heading for their 5th English crown.

As for Manchester City, the team is brimming with confidence. Ruben Dias and John Stones have together solved the defensive woes that plagued their side last year and they will be looking to keep up their good attacking form too. Kevin de Bruyne will be key for the Mancunian rivals as they will look to put the title race to bed once and for all.

TEAM NEWS

Manchester United will be without Frenchman Paul Pogba, who is still sidelined through injury although it is suspected that he won't be on the sidelines for long. David de Gea will also not be available for selection after he was given some personal time off for the birth of his child.

Manchester City have no issues leading up to the Derby as Nathan Ake has also recovered from a muscle problem.

PREDICTED LINEUP

Since David de Gea has been given some personal time off, Dean Henderson will start in goal. I expect Bailly and Maguire to continue along with Luke Shaw and Aaron Wan Bissaka. Mc-Fred behind Bruno and upfront Rashford, Cavani and Greenwood are expected to start.

PLAYERS TO WATCH OUT FOR

Luke Shaw has been in phenomenal form this season and possibly the best LB in the Premier League. He has definitely put himself in Southgate's Euros plans and has been a revelation for Manchester United. Alex Telles can be credited for providing competition for the Englishman, but Shaw deserves all the plaudits for putting in the work to get where he is right now.

From the Blues' side, it's hard to look past the influence of Kevin de Bruyne. The Belgian playmaker will be looking to find his form and if he has even half a decent game from his standards, City would win this tie.

VERDICT

Despite the difference in quality right now, I expect us to win the game 2 - 1 with Bruno and Cavani getting on the scoresheet.

Manchester United 2 - 1 Manchester City
