MATCH PREVIEW - MANCHESTER UNITED VS REAL SOCIEDAD
Manchester United are virtually through after beating Sociedad 0-4 in the away leg |
TRIVIA
Manchester United are virtually through to the Round of 16 after thumping Real Sociedad 0-4 away from home. Until and unless we've an absolute freak result, The Red Devils should comfortably get over this tie. Having such a healthy advantage gives Solskjaer the perfect opportunity to rotate his squad and give regular first-teamers a much-needed rest.
Ole's boys seem to have returned to form after a dip, which saw them drop points in a 3-3 draw against Everton and a 1-1 draw against West Brom. Since then, United have kicked off their Europa League campaign in style and won 3-1 against Newcastle in a convincing manner.
Meanwhile, Real Sociedad will look to keep the aggregate low and avoid another free-scoring performance from Manchester United. Hopefully, we don't take this fixture too lightly and get another win to instil confidence in the squad going ahead in the competition.
TEAM NEWS
Paul Pogba stays out for the month of February through a thigh injury. McTominay, Van de Beek, and Cavani are still not deemed fit enough to travel with the squad. On a positive note, Pogba has started training.
“It'll be more or less the same squad that we had against Newcastle”- Ole Gunnar Solskjaer
Hannibal Mejbri was in-line to be included in the squad for this match but unfortunately, he suffered an injury that rules him out for a month. Recent debutants, Amad Diallo and Shola Shoretire are at the Lowry Hotel with the squad.
Robin Le Normand is out of the tie through suspension after accumulating too many yellow cards. Elustondo was injured in the first-leg warm-up and didn't play against Alaves at the weekend either.
PREDICTED LINEUP
Dean Henderson is expected to stand between the sticks. Bailly and Tuanzebe should start this game. Shaw and Wan-Bissaka should be rested in favour of Telles and Brandon Williams. Due to injuries, Ole can realistically play only a double-pivot of Fred and Matic, while Mata is expected to start in place of Bruno. Solskjaer could give Diallo his first start.

Dan James - Dan James has made a sensational return to form and will look to add his goalscoring tally. The Welsh speedster now has 5 goals in his last 7 appearances and was the Man of the Match against Newcastle, getting a goal and an assist. Hopefully, his form continues and he gives Manchester United a new dimension in attack.
