MATCH PREVIEW - REAL SOCIEDAD v MANCHESTER UNITED
Manchester United kick off their Europa League campaign against Real Sociedad |
TRIVIA
Venue - Allianz Arena, TurinKick-Off - Thursday, February 10 11:25 IST
Manchester United in this topsy-turvy season have perhaps found their identity. United can be counted on as being predictably unpredictable and that leads to a lot of shock results good or bad. They will want to bounce back from a 1 - 1 draw against relegation candidates West Bromwich Albion. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will want to do better than their last season in the Europa League and want to get his hands on silverware with the Premier League looking a bit far out of reach now.
Real Sociedad are no joke, they are a force to be reckoned with this season. The Spanish side has been playing out of their skin this season and sit fifth in the league. David Silva has added incentive to beat the Red Devils after his glorious career at the Etihad where he oversaw a period of dominance by the 'noisy neighbours'. Former red Adnan Januzaj will also be playing against his former team after he was sold in 2017. One thing's for certain, it's going to be a really good match!
TEAM NEWS
Paul Pogba will miss the game and a few subsequent ones after that due to a thigh problem. Scott McTominay and Anthony Martial are doubts for the game. Donny van de Beek and Edison Cavani have not travelled as they are nursing muscle injuries.
As for Real Sociedad, Luca Sangalli is out with a knee injury. Otherwise, the full team is fit.
PREDICTED TEAM
Dean Henderson should start in goal and Eric Bailly should be given game time along with Alex Telles. Due to being understaffed in the midfield, Fred - Matic - Bruno should start along with Martial - Rashford and Greenwood.
In more exciting news, youngsters Amad Diallo and Shola Shoretire have travelled with the squad and could possibly be involved.
Predicted Lineup |
PLAYER TO WATCH OUT FOR
BRUNO FERNANDES - He has been Manchester United's talisman since he arrived in January last year and he always seems to contribute to the game no matter what. He is a leader on the pitch and dictates play according to a mental map. He is United's top scorer this season and he leads United's creative stats on which he will be looking to capitalise, making him THE ONE TO WATCH OUT FOR.
