Solskjaer's Chance To Rotate? - Granada vs Manchester United
Granada vs Manchester United [via UEFA Europa League] |
TRIVIA
Manchester United exited the FA Cup in a disappointing manner as they allowed Leicester City to run over them in the Quarter-Final. The result and moreover, the performance came as a shock to everyone as the same team had just beaten City, AC Milan, and West Ham in a span of 2 weeks. The International Break couldn't have come at a better time for Ole.
Most of our players got about the right amount of rest and game time during their time with their countries. We were expected to come back fresher as we restarted PL action. But quite evidently, our team took a while to get out of their blocks against Brighton, conceding yet another early goal. Although we managed to come back from behind, yet again, we need to start winning games more comfortably.
Taking a look at our rivals, Granada have lost their last 3 matches against Molde, Valencia and Villareal. The Nazaries currently sit 10th in La Liga with 36 pts in 29 games. Ex-Spurs veteran striker, Roberto Soldado is Granada's top scorer this season, with 6 goals in La Liga.
As much as we should respect every opposition, this game should be an easy win for Manchester United and any slip up at this stage would heavily impact the players' and manager's confidence.
TEAM NEWS
Solskjaer has quite a few injury concerns as the season is getting to the business stage. Eric Bailly was expected to start the game against Brighton but was kept out due to testing positive for coronavirus. The Ivorian can only travel to the UK upon showing a negative test for Covid and is currently staying quarantined in his home country. Martial's knee injury might even keep him out for the season, although, the player expects to make a return sooner than that and be ready for the Euros. Mata's muscle injury had kept him out for a while but he has returned to training now. Although, it's highly unlikely for him to start. Rashford hobbled off on the same ankle that was injured before the international break. He's certainly not completely fit but it remains to be seen if Ole risks playing him. Anthony Elanga has been added to the travelling squad and would be on the bench. De Gea is expected to start after being sidelined for a while due to the birth of his daughter.
Quini, Neyder Lozano, Luis Suarez, Luis Milla, and Alberto Soro are definite absentees for Granada, while Carlos Neva and Dimitri Foulquier remain a doubt for the tie.
