Manchester United are finally playing the United way as they currently sit 2nd in the league - three points off the leaders Liverpool with a game in hand. In what is turning out to be a pretty unpredictable season, The Red Devils find themselves in a title race - something not many would have thought of at the start of the season. Bruno Fernades and Marcus Rashford are on fire right now and Ole Gunnar Solskjar will be hoping that this continues against Aston Villa. A win here would see United go level on points with Liverpool having played the equal amount of games. It certainly would make the game at Anfield a lot more interesting.
Aston Villa on the other hand have been 'the dark horse' this season. Having barely survived relegation last season, they find themselves in the top half of the table - to be precise fifth in the league, 7 points off the top with two games in hand. Jack Grealish has been playing out of his skin this season and add that to their strong defence ( the second best in the league so far ) , they could make the night difficult for the Red Devils. Last season they played a 2 - 2 draw at Old Trafford with Jack Grealish impressing on that particular occasion.
TEAM FORM
Man United's form in the Premier League recently has been extremely good. They have been unbeaten for a long time and they last lost domestically on the first of November against Arsenal. Since then they have clawed their way back and now as a result sit second in the league.
Villa also come into the game in a similar run of form - unbeaten in the last five games in the Premier League. Dean Smith will be hoping to break the jinx of the Manchester United fixture - one that they have only won on three occasions in the Premier League in over 50 games.
TEAM NEWS
Manchester United will be without Edinson Cavani who will be serving a three match ban (as per the statement by the FA). Rest of the registered squad is fit and available to play.
As for Aston Villa, defensive lynch pin Tyrone Mings will be unavailable because of the one match ban following the red card. Ross Barkley may be back. Trezeguet is a doubt for the fixture following a hamstring injury.
PREDICTED TEAM
David de Gea should retain his place in goal. Solskjaer hinted that he may rotate the squad so Luke Shaw may get to start ahead of Telles. Fred and McTominay should be back to deal with the threat of Jack Grealish with Bruno playing with a front three of Martial, Rashford and Greenwood.
PLAYER TO WATCH OUT FOR
BRUNO FERNANDES - He has been Manchester United's talisman since he arrived in January and he always seems to contribute to the game no matter what. He is a leader on the pitch and dictates play according to a mental map. He is United's joint top scorer this season along with Marcus Rashford and he leads United's creative stats on which he will be looking to capitalise, making him THE ONE TO WATCH OUT FOR..
VERDICT
This could be a really tight game
Manchester United 2 - 1 Aston Villa.
