MATCH PREVIEW - MAN UNITED v WEST HAM
Manchester United face West Ham in the FA Cup 5th Round |
TRIVIA
Venue - Old Trafford, ManchesterKick-Off - Saturday, February 10- 01:00 IST Tuesday, February 09- 19:30 GMT
Manchester United in this topsy-turvy season have perhaps found their identity. United can be counted on being predictable unpredictable and that leads to a lot of shock results good or bad. Recently they threw away a 2 - 0 lead at half time against Everton to draw 3 - 3 just days after the record-breaking 9 - 0 win against Southampton. The Red Devils have lacked consistency, let me rephrase, defensive consistency with that are being the root of all the problems on the west side of Manchester. The attack may be the best in Europe but the defence needs improving. Regardless, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will lead his men into the 5th round FA Cup tie against a former Red's manager David Moyes who was unceremoniously sacked after United's then poorest start of the campaign. 7 years on since his departure, United are involved in a title race sitting second in the league with their eyes on future glory.
West Ham on the other hand have been playing simply out of this world. Before the start of the season, David Moyes was odds on the favourite to be sacked after West Ham were handed a nightmare first 10 run of fixtures which included all the big hitters in the league. Not only did they survive that, but they also thrived and currently sit 5th in the league with European aspirations. The resurgence of Mikhail Antonio and Thomas Soucek playing out of his skin have all contributed to that. Will they get past the Red Devils who look hungrily at the FA Cup as a chance to get their hands on some silverware? Only time will tell...
TEAM NEWS
Paul Pogba will miss the game and a few subsequent ones after that due to a thigh problem. Apart from that, the entire squad is fit and raring to go.
West Ham United manager David Moyes will be hoping Mikhail Antonio is available after the centre-forward was substituted due to fatigue in Saturday's goalless Premier League draw at Fulham. Jesse Lingard will also not be available due to being cup tied (as he played a game with Manchester United)
PREDICTED TEAM
Dean Henderson should start along with Eric Bailly and Alex Telles. The midfield could see a change with Donny van de Beek starting along with Matic and Bruno. Upfront, Martial could be given an opportunity along with Dan James and Marcus Rashford.
